The Eco Schools Committee decided we needed a logo and so set about designing one. Last Friday was the deadline and we got some excellent entries. It was down to Don and Jean to pick the winner and they chose this cheery design by Sam Henderson.

Bag The Bruck
This week pupils, staff and parents got involved in Bag the Bruck. We worked in teams to gather rubbish from around the school grounds and village. We used Mrs Williams orienteering map to help us work out which areas we needed to go to and each group was responsible for their own area.
We didn't think there was that much rubbish as we couldn't really see any. However, after some searching we started to find things and when we got back to the school it was clear that there was rubbish lurking around Orphir School and Village!
Here are all the bags of bruck we collected.
All the collecting outside in the fresh air tired us out!

Orphir school's green cone and trees
We use our Green cone for food waste from the nursery and staff room. Pupils from p1-3 take the food and carry it out to the Green cone.
The Green cone works when we put food in and worms eat it then produce compost (waste).

Our Committee
We are:
Tia, Mia, Aaron, Jamie and Sam (Back Row)
Joe, Travis, Charlotte, Owen and Magnus (Middle Row)
Reece and Marcus (Front Row)
We have found out that, at Orphir School, we already use recycled hand towels and toilet roll! We are going to think of a new target for our action plan instead of this one.
We are also trying to think of a new name for our committee. Does anyone have any suggestions?

New Eco Schools Committee
Pupils and Staff at Orphir Primary School have held their first meeting of the schools Eco Committee.
The committee are working towards their Bronze Flag and have thought of three action points to work on from now until February. They are
- Creating a litter policy for the whole school
- Finding out if we can have recycled toilet roll and hand towels in school
- Making sure paper is used on both sides before it is put in the green recycle bin
